Come join us in fishing Operation Angler Strength in it’s second annual charity fundraiser event. This year’s proceeds will be donated in part to the local San Antonio Heroes on the Water chapter and to Operation Angler Strength. Both outfits help wounded veterans get out on the water and kayak fish.
The event will take place on Saturday March 29th at Abel’s on the Lake. It will be a roadrunner style competition with both Lake Austin and Ladybird Lake (Town Lake) as eligible fishing waters.
There will be two divisions, the standard Fisherman Division, and the Veterans Division (reserved for current or former members of the US Military Forces). For those of you participating as a KATS member, we will carry your scores over to the leader-board regardless of which division you compete in. KATS standings will be announced at a later date following the event. Both divisions will be treated as Pro.
Anglers will be competing for various prize packages from our generous sponsors including Mojo Sportswear, Cabela’s, Bass Assasin, Bending Branches, Dizm Eco Eyewear, Hook1, Rio Products, Yak Gear, ACK, KATS, TFO, Schlotzsky’s, Premier Party Central, and more!. All proceeds will be donated to charity through Operation Angler Strength. An additional Big Bass pot and Kayak Raffle (Old Town Predator 13) will also benefit the charity.
Entry fees are $40 and must be done online prior to Wednesday March 26th: register here.
Note: There will be no cash payouts, all awards/winnings will be prizes from sponsors.
Registration will begin at 6 am in the parking lot across from Abel’s on the Lake, and a mandatory captains meeting will begin around 6:45 am. Once the meeting is over, all competitors will be released and a first cast time will be issued. Scoring and awards will take place at Abel’s On The Lake. You will be able to purchase a individual meal ticket for $5 on-site and the ticket will be good for a BBQ meal with live music in the background. No outside food or beverage is allowed
The KATS Official rules will be employed for this event. Hawg Troughs are the mandatory measuring device.
Anyone wishing to volunteer for the event, please contact Mike Ryan (email@example.com) or Kristian Kolflat (firstname.lastname@example.org). If you would like to make an additional donation please see us at the event.
More on KATS scoring:
When you register make sure to check the “score me for KATS pro” check box. All anglers who select this will be scored offsite in regards to KATS series points. Both the Fisherman and Veterans Division will be scored the same. The winners of the Operation Angler Strength event may not coincide with the winners in KATS standings. For example, a non-KATS participant may place 1st at the event in either division, and not be scored for KATS. The top scoring KATS member will earn the 100 points towards the series. There will not be a separate award ceremony or prizes/payouts outside of the event. A competitor could theoretically not place at the actual event while placing in terms of KATS standings.
Please note most places require cash or check for entry. Check with individual sites for more information.
