Lake Bastrop holds a special place in KATS’ heart as it is one of the most common and most popular destinations for the KATS trail. The lake has been fished in all types of weather, during all seasons, and it always makes for a great turnout. 74 men, women, boys, and girls came to hook the winning stringer on Saturday.
Known for his proficient use of frogs, Bobby Lebeuf once again took the crown on Lake Bastrop. His 98 inch stringer earned him over $1000 in winnings, and brought back smiles and memories from his 2012 Classic Championship win on the very same lake! A half inch shy of tying for and taking 1st place (97.5 total inches), Ryan Herzog made a comeback from Lake Wood, to once again take the lead on the Series Leaderboard. Herzog also caught yet another winning big bass, for $600 with 22.75 inches. Ervin Coonrod took third, while Steve Garcia and Kevin Hebert tied for fourth. Garcia’s biggest fish of the day (20.5) broke the tie.
In Social, Trenton Whitaker scored a whopping 84.25 inches and won the custom Yak Attack Blakpack during the fun casting competition. He battled head to head with Mike Mashl (winner of the Lake Wood casting competition) and sunk the winning cast on a breezy day. Russel Tatum cruised into second with 82 inches, and Bryan Jones snagged third with 61.5 inches.
