Welcome to the New 2018 KATS website. Please pardon the dust.

Clash at Coleto Creek

Many anglers were quite excited to head to Coleto Creek, partially because we have never been before and partially because of the gators! In fact the KATS tourney on Coleto Creek was the first kayak tournament that this reservoir has allegedly seen. I cannot believe that with this lake being almost three hours from Austin, we were still able to breach the 100 angler mark yet again! We had a total of 108 participants at the Clash of Coleto Creek and we had 74 in the pro division and 34 in the Social. With all the rain that much of Texas experienced the past week (especially in the South) many anglers were worried about the water clarity of the lake, really hoping that it wasn’t going to look like chocolate milk. Upon arriving Friday afternoon, the water looked fantastic much to everyone’s surprise and that paired with the low winds and sunny skies projected for tourney day, I knew everyone was in for a good day of fishing and Coleto Creek did not disappoint! After all was said and done many healthy limits were caught and many gators were sighted, some reportedly at over 12 feet long (and when you are in a kayak that close they always look BIGGER)!

Without further ado here are your results! ACK’s San Antonio Assistant manager Tyler Howell took first with an impressive total of 95.25″ followed by Mr. Kevin Werner in second place with 94.25″. Mr. Big Bass Tony Sebren took home third with 92.25″. There was a tie for fourth place at 91.75″ but Mr. Andrew Jacobson took it with a 22″ kicker which put Mr. Robert Supak in fifth. In the social division we had Clay Skelton with an impressive total of 96.5″, he would of in fact won the pro division had he registered for pro! In second we had Mr. Immanuel Barela with 82.5″ followed by Ernesto Garza in third with 79.75″. Mr. Kayden Drake is one of our younger competitors this year and was all smiles when I called his name for the Big Bass Winner with a whopper coming in at 23″. He was also awarded the custom YakAttack BlackPak. Well done young man! The mystery tackle bag, or tackle warehouse gift certificate in the amount of $410.00 was awarded to Oscar Castillo. Mr Cody Fissler took home the charity raffle which was a Deep Blue Engel 65. Mr Joseph Sanderson won the pitching contest and took home a beautiful Kistler Argon Rod. Thanks again to everyone who came out and as always to our awesome sponsors! Hope to see everyone at Lake Athens, that lake will be going off when we get there!
