For the last 15 years Kayak Angler Tournament Series ( KATS)  has been the leading bass kayak tournament trail in Texas and recognized all across the US. KATS foundation was built on the fundamental idea of offering a competitive space where anglers of all levels of experience get to challenge themselves against the best in the sport and where sport gets celebrated .  ACK continues to stay true to the commitment to help promote and grow the sport and for 2020 we have made exciting changes in the Tournament Director position with Joseph Sanderson taking the lead role. Joseph is not a stranger to the area, KATS or sport. He brings immeasurable kayaks fishing experience and a keen understanding of the angler perspective. We want KATS to be a series for kayak anglers by kayak anglers and we are certain that Joseph will help deliver on that promise.

Hey everyone, my name is Joseph Sanderson and I am taking over the role of KATS Tournament Director for the 2020 season. I am beyond excited about this opportunity and motivated to make this the best season of KATS yet. I got my start in tournament fishing through KATS, and the organization/tournament series has given me so much when it comes to both fishing and friends. As a competitor in KATS, I was fortunate enough to win back to back Classic Championships, and back to back to back King of the Fish honors, with a couple top 5 AOY finishes mixed in. I am looking forward to giving back to the series more than anything. By injecting new energy from someone with a tournament fishing background, I hope to stoke the fire that is KATS during the 2020 season, positioning the trail to succeed and grow for many years to come. Besides for a few key rule changes, I hope to restructure the trail from payouts to prizes that will benefit everyone while keeping the camaraderie and sportsmanship alive and well that the KATS trail was founded upon. I am greatly looking forward to the 2020 season, and can’t wait to see all of the anglers battling it out for top honors in one of the premier kayak trails in the country.
